Worst stretch ever

Trying to catch up I’m going to combine Sunday and Monday into one post. The days all so run together and many seem as if they were the day before. Even the sunrises and Alpenglow. Sunday passed without much remarkable happening. We arrived in Rabanal and found our Albergue. This was the municipal alburgue which is typically least expensive and no frills. It was just that. 5€ for a bed, shower and a line to hang our hand washed clothing on. We were fortunate in that there were only 5 people and we got bottom bunks!

Saw this really cool rock on the way into Rabanal.
Since there would be no breakfast offered, we spent a couple hours shopping at 2 different tiendas before we gathered enough stuff.
This morning (Monday) after breakfast we began our long upward trek towards the Cross de Ferro. Here people leave rocks and other things which are supposed to symbolize something.
The 7km trip back down the hill was the worst stretch so far. My knees felt like they were ground to a pulp by the end of the day and the most discouraging thing is that tomorrow’s hike appears to start with another 7 km of the same.😫.

The scenery was lovely when I was able to take my eyes off my feet.

The mountains (we are at 4600 ft) are a welcome change from the farmlands. This tree reminded me that is fall here as well as at home
The Albergue here Meson el Acebo, is very nice and, I might add, very full. Happy to have arrived early, procured a bottom bunk and taken my shower. I combined my stuff with Marty’s and we paid 7€ for washer/dryer.

Sorry not much else to share. I’m beat😕 and hope tomorrow, Tuesday, is less punishing.
