October 11, another climb 😫

Halfway to the top of the highest spot on the Camino. This trail has stairways of rock interspersed with dried leaf covered soil. Sketchy and really glad it is early in my day!
Also quite glad I’m going up and not down.

Yesterday I stayed at one of the nicest Albergue in a small town Ruitelan. The Hospitalero Luis, was so cordial and such a good cocinero! I must say it was the best pilgrim cena I have had. This morning he woke us up with wake up music in every language. English was: “Good morning, good morning” followed by “these boots are made for walking.”

After a communal breakfast we were ushered out the door. Dinner, a bed and breakfast 16€.  Such an incredible deal.

Yesterday at one particular stop there was this sign with perfectly good boots atop. Wonder what the story was here? Maybe the end of the road?
There was also this fella

Well yes, the 10 km hike was, as advertised, uphill, sometimes at a incline of 16 degrees. But the scenery was spectacular.
Here I am at the entrance to the last province of Spain I will need. The one where Santiago is - Galicia!
I passed through O’Cebreiro quickly. Lots of souvenir shops and cafes - neither of which I could use. Carrying on to a little town called Linares where I am in an Albergue that is tidy and new. There is no restaurant here though so off I went to the tienda to purchase stuff for lunch, dinner and breakfast tomorrow.

Here’s my newest friend. The first statue of a female pilgrim that I have seen
Tomorrow I go downhill. Fingers crossed😬
