7 km of this this morning and thank God and the blessed Mother, I made it!! . We left El Acebo this morning late, about 8am because we knew we would be walking treacherous land and sure enough, it was difficult. We had breakfast at an Albergue just outside of town and caught this view
Typical architecture in this area kind of reminds me of colonial Mexico. We passed through this town this morning in between horrid rocky down slopes and saw some of the beautiful homes and local domesticated animals
After 7 kms of bone jarring downhill, we finally came to Molinaseca. From there on it was up and down but on the side of a highway for 7 kms (a welcome, if not scenic sight). We arrived in Ponferrada about 1:30pm and checked into our Albergue. Had to go find money and explore the town where sure enough there was a big Church
Oh yeah and a real castle and a moat!
We managed to hook up with Jo, Ashley and Cirila here for a brief but welcome visit near our Albergue. Cirila finished her Camino on Sunday and is making plans to do a retreat between now and the time we meet up to fly back home. Jo and Ashley have plans to do a lot of sight seeing between now and Sunday when they must leave. Really great to touch bases with them today. A welcome taste of home.
Tomorrow we have a 25k hike ahead so I must go nitey night. So from my Albergue with 3 women and 3 men in their underwear. Hasta manana!
