It was great walking weather, overcast and really no chance of rain. Along the way we passed this really cool church and it reminded us how the Camino always makes a pass by the church no matter how far out of the way it is. So if you loose track of the way, get there to the nearest church! (Don’t worry, they are all Catholic here- every other religion must worship underground😮).
One of the things these churches are good for, besides worship, is that their steeples serve as a platform for storks’ nests. Check out this one. It has 3 huge nests:
We passed over the bridge over Órbigo which was built in the 13th century. Below this bridge lies a jousting field (yes, they really did do that).
Our final resting place for the day was “El Encanto” Albergue and it truly was. Marta was the proprietress and the place could have been more comfortable and welcoming. We even had sheets and towels! Fortunately we are trying to stay between big cities so it was rather quiet and unpopulated.
We went to the only bar/restaurant for dinner. Met a man and his 14 year old son from Germany. The son has one week vacation so the 2 of them drove down with their bikes and were hoping to get to Santiago where they would rent a car to take them and their bikes back to Leon where they left their car.
It was a good day.
