Yep! I’m still in the game

Okay first off here are my pictures from yesterday (Friday) and Saturday when I walked from St Jean to Orrison and then onto Roncesvalles:

Us departing St Jean

The view from Orrison in the Pyrenees - Basque Country

Saturday I awoke to another beautiful day and a 20km hike ahead of us to arrive in Roncevalles. Here I left France and entered Spain! The scenery was beautiful and I was beginning to get used to the walking. I arrived at the 138 bed albergue at 1:30.  Fortunately there was a bed for me (most had been reserved). I slept in a pod with 3 men: Steve and Rick from the US and Esteban from Spain. Apparently this is a banner season for pilgrims. They had to put 60 people into overflow.

Dawn over the Pyrenees  leaving for Roncevalles

Some very cool and sweet wildlife along the way.

It’s late. Lights out at the Albergue. More tomorrow maybe.

  1. According to google maps, you would have walked 18 hours in one day. From St. Jean to Roncesvales. So glad you got a bed! The scenery is breathtaking.
