9 days of walking - Viana to Navarette

I still can’t believe I am doing this. My job right now is to get up, walk 12 miles with my 14# backpack, find a place to stay, take a shower, do some laundry, do some blogging, eat dinner, crash in bed .... so far so good!

This morning I was on the road by 7 am. It was dark and could have been easy to get lost! When the sky finally lightened up I got a thunder and lightening show!

Along about 10 am the sky opened up and started pouring. Lucky for me, I was close to an underpass where I could dig out my poncho. This storm only lasted about 1 hour whereupon the sky brightened and things dried out.

I got to Navarette around 2 pm and checked into the private room I had reserved. Private room does not mean private bath. It was great to have it because I hacked all night. Yes! A new cold!! Aren’t I lucky?

Had the pilgrim dinner in town with a fellow pilgrim. The only thing good about the pilgrim meal is the wine. They smash the hell out of everything the eat, thinking, I suppose, that they are tenderizing it. Then they fry it till it is finally a perfect state of chewy! 😖

Did 20 km today. Gonna keep it to 14 tomorrow.
