A couple days ago I referred to my incident so briefly here’s what happened. I was looking at my cell phone while walking down the marble staircase in my Barcelona hotel, missed the bottom step and ended up sprawled out on the marble landing. Smart huh? So I went to the ER at the local hospital and after an X-ray and consult and about 2 hours, I was told I had capsulitis. Nothing to do but not walk a lot on it for 3 weeks. I was devastated. After conferring with my personal ER RN (Russ) we decided that the guy was full of beans and that I should go on. Just take my time. So I am.
This morning after a decent (far from perfect) night’s sleep, I set off on the first leg of my journey. The goal seemed attainable - 9km - to the Refugio and a good rest. Well, I’m here to tell you that it was pretty much straight up!
Made it to the Refugio at Orrison. Still intact. There is no WiFi here so I’ll post photos when I have some!
I agree with Uncle Russ. Ice, Elevate, Aleve. Tough way to start though.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Kappy. I know just what those marble steps in Barcelona can be like .... as I slipped as well. Rest when you need to heal!!!! It is all part of the journey. I hope you are up and at it by the time this message reaches you. I like when you say what town you are going to as i can follow your route.
